What’s going on with the new East Hampton Middle School’s community service club “Do Good Be Good” efforts?
East Hampton Town Trustee David Cataletto, is also a middle school teacher, oyster farmer with the East Hampton Shellfish Hatchery, and the Director of the newly founded community service club, “Do Good Be Good.” Last week he took his students to the shellfish hatchery at Gann Road last week to participate in the eelgrass restoration project with Rob Vasiluth, the founder of SAVE Environmental. The volunteers glued 10,000 eelgrass seeds to 1,000 juvenile hard clams as part of a pilot project to help restore eelgrass beds in East Hampton Town waters.
“Do Good Be Good” is an inspirational new club! We’re looking forward to seeing how Rob Vasiluth’s innovative and tireless work to bring eelgrass back to the Peconics turns out from this batch of seeds!
Funding for this project has been awarded to Peconic Baykeeper through East Hampton Town’s CPF WQIP along with support from the East Hampton Town Shellfish Hatchery, the East Hampton Town Trustees, and monitoring by the Cornell Cooperative Extension.
