Meeting for Season 2025!
Date: February 27th – Thursday
Time: 5 PM
Location: 36 Gann Road / East Hampton
Hi Oyster Gardeners!
This is a reminder that our first presentation of the year is scheduled for this Thursday 2/27 at 5 pm at 36 Gann Rd., East Hampton (location & parking information below). This meeting will be a hybrid in-person & Zoom. Please indicate, via this email, whether you plan to attend, regardless of the method. The topic will be Shellfish Biology, Broodstock Conditioning & Algae Culture. I will also do an anatomy lesson on oysters and clams, which means we’ll be shucking some shellfish so bring your appetites and something to wash them down with! I will also try to incorporate a Kahoot quiz at the end of the presentation. For those that don’t know what that is, it’s an application based interactive quiz platform that can be done on your computer, phone, etc. So you’ll definitely want to pay attention during the lecture in order to ace the quiz! You’ll just need to install the Kahoot app or go to their website on your phone or tablet. It’s a lot of fun and popular in schools, great way to learn and retain information.
For those that don’t already, please follow both the Town of East Hampton and South Fork Sea Farmers on Instagram and Facebook. We had a great spawn recently and there are videos and pictures there.
More information on the location: 36 Gann Rd. is accessed from Babes Lane which is on the left near the bottom of Gann Rd. Please park in the driveway, along the south side of Gann Rd. & in the main parking lot at the end of Gann Rd (NOT THE MENDELMAN’S MARINA LOT TO THE RIGHT OF THE RAMP OR ALONG BABES LANE). From the parking lot you’ll need to walk up to the house and come in the driveway off of Babes Lane. See map below.
Hope to see you there!
John “Barley” Dunne
Director of the East Hampton Shellfish Hatchery
