Initially, the Trustees voted to approve a one-year moratorium commencing in November 2021 on all new applications for docks, catwalks, floating docks, floating structures, and floating platforms in the Trustee owned waterways of which we own the bottomlands. They include Wainscott Pond, Georgica Pond, Three Mile Harbor, Hog Creek, Accabonac Creek and Harbor, Pussy’s Pond, Hand’s Creek, Alewife Brook, Northwest Creek, and Little Northwest Creek. Last year, in November, the Trustees voted to extend the moratorium. The inventory search is necessary to ensure the existing docks are in compliance with permits already granted. In addition to the Trustees reviewing each dock in person, the use of a drone was employed to help assist in reviewing the inventory.

The deadline for the completion of the inventory of docks is scheduled for August 15th, three months ahead of schedule. The second moratorium will end in November of this year. This survey does not include commercial docks, future or existing duck blinds, or flupsy-floating upweller systems used to grow shellfish in open water that protect shellfish from predators in open waters.
