Video Winners of The East Hampton Litter Action Committee

First Prize: Francisco Vasquez
5th grade, Springs School
Video: Don’t Trash East Hampton

The Town of East Hampton Litter Action Committee had an extraordinary night at LTV Studios in Wainscott this past week – The winners, all from our local schools, from grades 6 – 12, entered their anti-trash message videos in the hope of winning the Grand Prize of three hundred dollars. All videos will be featured on LTV Channel 20 and will be added to this post when they become available.

The evening’s event was declared a great success as there was a terrific community turn out and “lots of good community spirit and heart!” according to Barbara Delorenzo, a member of the “No Fling Spring” and Town Action Litter Committees. It was quite the celebration of our local student’s talents who were enthusiastic about the project and sending a message out to their classmates, friends, and all community members – “Don’t Litter – Keep East Hampton Clean.”

In addition to the First Prize Winner, there were three additional winning videos :

First Prize: Francisco Vasquez
5th grade, Springs School

Runner Up Winner: Nicole Seitz
Junior, East Hampton High School

The Trustees wish to congratulate the winners for their important messages through their creative and informative videos. It’s all about educating the community to knowing how harmful debris can be for our landscapes, waterways – ocean, ponds, and lakes, birds, marine and wildlife species alike.

We also thank the efforts of our town’s Action Committee members for bringing awareness to all of us and to our school students, the ability to be heard and to be creative!

The East Hampton Town Trustees participated in two beach clean-ups with students and adults for the month’s “No Fling Spring” anti-litter campaign with the Action Litter Committee. Both Trustee sponsored beach clean-ups at Lazy Point and Atlantic Beach, were posted earlier this month on our website under “Events.”

The following videos were made by local public school students for the East Hampton Action Litter Committee’s video competition- All will be featured on LTV channel 20. Inspiring creativity and awareness about keeping our town clean from debris, we congratulate the winners!
