At the previous Trustee meeting, it was announced that this year’s annual “Largest Clam Contest” will be held on Sunday, October 5th, from Noon until 3 P.M. at the Amagansett Life-Saving Station on Atlantic Avenue.
Although the Trustees had considered September, it’s already stacked with numerous events on the month’s Sundays, the traditional day for this contest. The most favorable tides for clam digging will be the week before October 5th.
The Largest Clam contest is the Trustee’s traditional community event, complete with the popular clam chowder contest. Entries are for New England and Bonac recipes! Three judges will sample each entry before casting their votes.
The chairperson of this year’s event will again be Trustee David Cataletto.
As always, the event will offer FREE food, including clam pies, clams on the half shell, and New England white and Manhattan red clam chowder.
The East End Classic Boat Society will showcase its restored boat, which will be offered to win by raffle ticket purchase. The East Hampton Shellfish Hatchery will be on hand with a live collection of various marine species found in our local waters!
All are invited to share a fun day with the Trustees, family, and friends!
Details for submitting your special clam chowder recipes for the contest will be available as the event draws near, along with more information as the plans are confirmed.
Remember to mark your calendar for Sunday, October 5th, for the Trustee’s Annual Largest Clam Contest!
